The Glory of The Vision & Valleys

The Glory of The Vision & Valleys

And the parched ground shall become a pool – Isaiah 35:7

God always gives us a vision before a thing is made real.  When we realize that although the vision is real, it is not real in us, then is the time that Satan comes in with his temptations, and we are apt to say it is no use to go on.  Instead of the vision becoming real – there has appeared the valley of humiliation. This awful valley of accusation and condemnation that whispers, “You are not. You cannot”.

God gives us the vision ~ then He immediately takes us down to the valley to batter us into the shape of the vision, and it is in the valley that so many of us faint and give way.  Every vision will be made real if we will have patience.  Think of the enormous leisure of God! He is never in a hurry.  We are always in such a frantic hurry, aren’t we?

In the light of the glory of the vision we go forth to do things, but the vision is still not real in us yet; and God has to take us into the valley, and put us through fires and floods to batter us into shape, until we get to the place where He can trust us with the veritable reality.  Ever since we received the vision – God has been at work, getting us into the shape of the ideal.  And over and over again we attempt to loosen His grasp from us and try to batter ourselves into our own shape.  How preposterous to think we could do a better job than our loving Heavenly Father to mold us for the perfected fitting of the vision!

The vision is not a castle in the air, but of what God wants you to be. It is also not something that we could ever imagine ourselves to be, but something bigger… something God-breathed.  Only God can make us into the vision He has cast for us for it is He alone that has the power to transform and make alive.

Let Him put you on His wheel and whirl you as He likes… and as sure as God is God and you are you, you will turn out exactly in accordance with the vision.

  1. You’re welcome Rhonda. (I see I put in an extraneous line – 5th from the bottom). It’s always a humbling poem to me because I do try to avoid the valleys and can easily miss seeing God’s purpose in them. God Bless

    • I understand about trying to avoid the valleys… I think we all do that. But, I’m still grateful for them because without them, I wouldn’t recognize the mountaintops! :D

  2. Thank you for your thoughts – reminded me of the Valley of Vision puritan prayer

    Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly,
    Thou has brought me to the valley of vision,
    where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights;
    hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold
    thy glory.
    Let me learn by paradox
    that the way down is the way up,
    that to be low is to be high,
    that the broken heart is the healed heart,
    that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit,
    that the repenting soul is the victorious soul,
    that to have nothing is to possess all,
    that to bear the cross is to wear the crown,
    that to give is to receive,
    that the valley is the place of vision.
    Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells,
    deepest wells,
    and the deeper the wells the brighter
    thy stars shine;
    Let me find thy light in my darkness,
    Thy life in my death,
    that every good work or thought found in me
    thy joy in my sorrow,
    thy grace in my sin,
    thy riches in my poverty
    thy glory in my valley.
